Our mission

Working together to end food poverty in Leeds

Leeds Food Aid Network (FAN) exists to connect food aid providers, council services, faith groups, and members of the public, so that no one falls through the cracks when they need food most.

We are part of Food Wise Leeds and the West Yorkshire Food Poverty Network, connected to the national Feeding Britain initiative.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Most food banks in Leeds require a referral from a professional such as a social worker, GP, school, or Citizens Advice. If you are in crisis and cannot get a referral quickly, visit our Find Support page for drop-in services that do not require a voucher.
We accept long-life, in-date, tinned, and dried foods. Popular items include tinned vegetables, pasta, rice, cereal, UHT milk, and cooking sauces. Please do not donate opened, out-of-date, or home-made items. See our Donate page for drop-off points.
Absolutely. All our member organisations welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Common roles include sorting food, assisting visitors, driving deliveries, and admin support. Full training is provided. Fill in our volunteer form to get started.
Leeds FAN is a network rather than a registered charity. We coordinate and support a wide range of charitable and community organisations across the city. Many of our member organisations are registered charities that can accept Gift Aid on donations.
