Every act of generosity — whether food, money, or your time — directly helps someone in Leeds who is struggling. Here is how you can make a difference.

Donate Food

Food donations are the lifeblood of our network. Donated items are sorted by volunteers and distributed to food banks, drop-ins, and pantries across Leeds.

What to donate

We most need: tinned vegetables, tinned fish & meat, pasta, rice, cereals, UHT milk, cooking sauces, cooking oil, tea & coffee, biscuits, and toiletries.

Please do not donate

Opened items, out-of-date food, home-cooked or homemade food, alcohol, or items that require refrigeration without suitable packaging.

A financial donation allows our member organisations to buy exactly what is needed, pay their staff and volunteers, and keep services running. Every pound matters.

To donate, please contact us directly or visit our member organisations' websites. Many accept online card payments, cheques, and bank transfers.

If you are donating to a registered charity member, Gift Aid can increase your donation by 25% at no cost to you.

Volunteer with Us

Our network runs thanks to hundreds of dedicated volunteers across Leeds. Whether you can spare two hours or two days a week, there is a role for you.

Help sort incoming food donations and assemble food parcels at our distribution hubs.

Welcome visitors at food banks and drop-ins, listen, and help them access the right support.

FareShare & Rethink Food

FareShare and Rethink Food are key partners in Leeds's food redistribution efforts, collecting surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers, and restaurants and distributing it to charitable organisations.

FareShare Yorkshire

FareShare redistributes millions of tonnes of quality surplus food each year. They supply food to many Leeds FAN member organisations weekly.

For food businesses with surplus stock, FareShare can collect from you and redistribute it to charities. Contact them to arrange a collection.

Rethink Food Leeds

Rethink Food collects surplus from restaurants and local food businesses to prepare nutritious meals for people facing food poverty across the city.

Restaurants and cafes can donate surplus ingredients. Contact Rethink Food to find out more about joining the scheme.
